Murchison Falls National Park is one of Uganda’s most famous wildlife reserves, located in the northwest of the country. It covers an area of 3,893 square kilometers (1,501 square miles) and is named after the stunning Murchison Falls, where the Victoria Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge, plunging 43 meters into a pool below.
The park is rich in wildlife, offering excellent game viewing opportunities. It is home to a variety of animals including:
- Lions
- Leopards
- Elephants
- Buffaloes
- Giraffes
- Crocodiles
- Hippos
- And over 450 bird species, including the famous shoebill stork.
Visitors can enjoy boat safaris along the Nile to get up close to the wildlife, as well as game drives and nature walks. The park is also known for its picturesque landscapes, combining dense forest, savannah, and wetlands.
