2 Days Rhino Tracking Tour in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

2 Days

The Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a private sanctuary located in Uganda, specifically in Nakasongola District, about 170 kilometers (roughly 105 miles) north of Kampala, the capital. It was established in 2005 and plays a crucial role in rhino conservation efforts in Uganda. The sanctuary’s primary goal is to provide a safe haven for the white rhino, which had been extinct in Uganda since the 1980s due to poaching and habitat loss.

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is now home to a population of both Southern White Rhinos and has been successful in breeding efforts. Visitors to the sanctuary can take guided tours to observe these majestic animals in their natural habitat, learn about conservation efforts, and even contribute to the protection of rhinos through fees or donations.

In addition to rhinos, the sanctuary also offers a rich experience of other wildlife, including a variety of bird species, as it is located in a wetland area. It’s a popular stop for those on safari routes in Uganda, especially those heading to Murchison Falls National Park.

If you ever plan to visit, it’s definitely a worthwhile experience to support rhino conservation and witness these incredible creatures in a setting dedicated to their survival.
